Balancing Act
What does it feel like to be alive?
Warm.
Vibrating.
Filling and emptying.
There is tension. There is floppiness.
There is waiting.
An ache.
A balancing act.
Overwhelming.
Excitement.
Despair.
Palms and soles tingling.
Not knowing.
Only this.
Everything.
Alone.
Hunger.
Impossible.
Possible.
Head eyes throat lungs belly legs feet.
The trajectory of a shout.
Warm.
Vibrating.
Filling and emptying.
There is tension. There is floppiness.
There is waiting.
An ache.
A balancing act.
Overwhelming.
Excitement.
Despair.
Palms and soles tingling.
Not knowing.
Only this.
Everything.
Alone.
Hunger.
Impossible.
Possible.
Head eyes throat lungs belly legs feet.
The trajectory of a shout.

All The Time
And all the time this warm heart beating.
Your blonde head and your dark eyes.
I plant black kale for the winter and I think of you.
Drink beer and eat curry outside the pub.
Watch a cloud the shape of a mackerel.
Alder trees bear little green nutlets.
Always saying goodbye to you at your door.
See you on Monday. Yes, you will.

So Far
I had a dream the other night that this song was playing on a device in my bag, Tom's voice emerging from its depths.

No Words
No words big enough
No cry loud enough
No arms wide enough
No kick hard enough
No tears wet enough
No sleep deep enough
No night long enough
No sound sad enough
No shiver full enough
No mind vast enough
No place near enough
No memory clear enough
No heart open enough
No cry loud enough
No arms wide enough
No kick hard enough
No tears wet enough
No sleep deep enough
No night long enough
No sound sad enough
No shiver full enough
No mind vast enough
No place near enough
No memory clear enough
No heart open enough
