Will it never never never stop raining?? Outside all is turning to rivers, even up here at 900 feet above sea level. Prince Charles is even as we speak down in town (yes, really) visiting the flood-stricken businesses and there are many. His Business in the Community outfit may be going to come up with some financial help, which would indeed be welcome. Cafes and clothes shops and jewellers and wine bars to name but a few will all be closed for months while the damage is repaired, the insurance claimed.
And today there's another severe weather warning here with loads of Flood Alerts if not yet Warnings. I admit it is freaking me out. I set out to school this morning and turned round about a third of the way there and came home again, such is my panic about getting stranded (and it is so hard to assess the true nature of the threat).
This afternoon I shall sit on my friend's sofa and watch the Wimbledon semi-finals. She only lives a little way down the hill, so I shan't have to worry and the distraction will be more than welcome.

I just saw the pictures online at today's Guardian. What a wash out, but what do we know, still possible to have a scorching July.
Keep your spirits up, it's only water, really, just water.
Better safe than sorry - you did the right thing coming home. Hoping for dry days ahead!
I quite easily start to feel threatened by weather, and having seen at only too close hand the damage it can do, I can fully sympathise. Hope it abates soon, and that there's some help for those businesses.
Anyone suffering from S.A.D. is having a really, really hard time this 'summer'.
Thinking of you in the midst of flood warnings and alerts. It is frightening, and you're right to turn back if it appears unsafe.
Yes, it's really getting more than tedious even here - where it's not been quite so wet. But I could do with some sunshine...
