Willowherb

Rosebay Willowherb, Chamerion angustifolium, to give it its full names, photographed on the last day of July.

And I discovered today the following:

Known as Fireweed to many, particularly in North America, this name reflects the plant’s appearance following forest fires and other events which leave the earth scorched. With greater light on the earth again, C.angustifolium seeds then germinate and grow in the cleared areas...

Balancing Act

What does it feel like to be alive?
Warm.
Vibrating.
Filling and emptying.
There is tension. There is floppiness.
There is waiting.
An ache.
A balancing act.
Overwhelming.
Excitement.
Despair.
Palms and soles tingling.
Not knowing.
Only this.
Everything.
Alone.
Hunger.
Impossible.
Possible.
Head eyes throat lungs belly legs feet.
The trajectory of a shout.

All The Time

And all the time this warm heart beating.
Your blonde head and your dark eyes.
I plant black kale for the winter and I think of you.
Drink beer and eat curry outside the pub.
Watch a cloud the shape of a mackerel.
Alder trees bear little green nutlets.
Always saying goodbye to you at your door.
See you on Monday. Yes, you will.

So Far

I had a dream the other night that this song was playing on a device in my bag, Tom's voice emerging from its depths.
