For Those Who Are Following The Drama

I did not get the job, and have just walked up to Heptonstall for tea and cake with my old friend J, and we decided I'd had a happy escape, as counselling young people (for this is what the job was) would have been a tough assignment. So, although rather weary from the amount of nervous energy expended in the last few days, I feel sanguine, and hopeful. I look forward to hearing something next week about the latest job - this time it's management, but only 3 days a week...

L is mowing the lawn, and I am about to make the sponge for my trifle. 'We know our roles' said L. 'Yes, you're the daddy' said I.

Oh, gosh, very exhausting, all this, I'm sure, even though your sanguine feelings suggest this was not the right one. Hope you can put it aside and have a lovely housewarming party

Yes, sanguine and hopeful are good. Good luck with the next possibility.

Hmm, well, it wasn't the job for you, then.

How lovely, though, that there's a next in the pipeline coming along. My poor architect daughter is temping as an office dogsbody (when she's lucky) at the moment. Jobs? What jobs?

Hope you have a lovely party.

The last para made me lol (as J would say). I too have had solace from a wise friend this weekend on the subject of failing to get jobs. Because of course there are ripples from that stone which wash up specks of gold on the shore as well as releasing the pent-up methane from the murky depths. As it were.

what a great metaphor! i guess one could even use the methane for something! but looking out for the specks of gold at any rate... good to hear from you - will try to email...
