Biscuits

I shovelled snow off the car with a dustpan. Loose, powdery stuff, flying light through the air as I hurled it towards the pavement. Lots of it. My neighbour was removing snow from her car with one of those small windscreen scrapers. Her daughter came out and requested an egg - she was making biscuits - I stomped snow inside the house and brought a cool egg out in the palm of my hand, presented it to her. Noticed she's had a haircut. Returned to the shovelling. My neighbour drove off. Daughter emerged from next door's front porch with a bowl containing a mixture almost certainly containing the egg. 'Mum!' she said - 'she's gone...' I said, smiling, dustpan in hand. 'Oh' she said, disappearing inside again.

These little stories of the everyday observations are so nice, evidence that you are enjoying those moments of the days now that you have a bit more time to yourself. Wishing you happy Christmas with loved ones, and all the best in the New Year, including blessings in the new home.

I hope she offered you a biscuit!

Lovely indeed to read these things. Have a fine Christmas and a positive New Year with new beginnings. Best love to you both.

(Card arrived today, beautiful photo...)

Did you ever read/hear those 100 word stories that - was it the Today programme? - had a competition for, years ago? Your reminded me of those. Just a little pulling back of the curtain...
