The Beer Prize

I went to the Arts Festival box office on Saturday before the Handmade Parade to buy tickets for Moishe's Bagel. I was asked if I'd like to enter a prize draw. I said I would and filled in the required form, and thought no more about it. I didn't even ask what the prizes were, since I never win raffles, prize draws etc...

So, you could have knocked me down with a feather when we got back from the parade on Saturday evening to find a message saying I'd won the 'beer prize'! Well, how nice, I said to L, I expect it'll be a bottle or two of that local beer.

After her Pilates class this morning L went to collect the beer prize for me, and came staggering home under the weight of no less than six bottles of Little Valley Brewery beer, each one different. I especially like the way each one has a different coloured top. Click to enlarge to see them in their full glory.

At the age of 48 my first ever prize draw win! And it's something I really like. Thankyou.

Now back to the job application.

Handmade Parade photos coming soon.

aaaaah! (finally discovered I can comment using Safari but no Chrome, very odd)

So. Are you thinking of saving some for visitors? ;-)

I once won a six-foot pink bunny. I was about 35 at the time. So lucky. My children were delighted. I wasn't quite so thrilled...

I wouldn't waste such a superior brew on, uh, younger guests. My only ever raffle win was a bottle of Brut aftershave.

Apart from the sheer pleasure of drinking these (I'm particularly drawn by the ginger one and the stout) - reading the Signs here, this is all wonderfully auspicious. You're a winner now. Innit!

Gives one hope, winning things - maybe it's the start of a lucky phase! Vivien

Organic, too! That's quite a six-pack. Do let us know how they taste -- the names are very intriguing.

Yum. Those look good.

The only thing I ever won was a huge knitted golliwog, when I was 7 or 8. I was appalled and humiliated because I felt I was too old for such things. I like to think I was even then subliminally aware of what's wrong with golliwogs, although my teachers and parents certainly weren't...

I once won a toy red London bus at a fete. I was about 5 and it was what I wanted more than anything. Sadly it's been downhill all the way since, and I've never won anything much again, oh, except a box of fruit at another fete when we were on holiday, and then I near enough correctly guessed there were 329 Smarties in a rather pretty glass jar. So I guess I mustn't grumble.

The ginger one would be the one I'd save till last... Bravo and enjoy!

Thanks all - I really should post good news more often!

It's the wheat beer that is intriguing me...
