Conversation in the pub
FB You're in the gym at quarter to seven?? You get up at five o'clock!!??
P (Smiles slightly) Yes.
FB What time do you go to bed?
P About midnight...
FB You can manage on five hours' sleep?!!
P Sometimes I sit on the sofa when I get home and doze for ten minutes...
S Oh God I can't do that. I get horribly depressed if I go to sleep for a short time.... Anyway, FB how much sleep do you need?
FB I dunno - seven or eight hours I guess. (Thinks - or nine...)
P That's just habit...
I fear come Tuesday night my habit will be broken.

Well mazel tov on the sleep, F B - especially if you get a solid block of it unbroken. What happens Tuesday night?
... night before I start the new job - up at 6.15 Wednesday :-(
I know what you mean - my job fluctuates back and forth between working 7AM-3PM for one week, then 3PM-11PM the next. My brain just gets used to one wake-up time, and *whammo*, it changes. Yawnnnnnn!!!
Kate Mosse the novelist was featured in the Sunday Times last week. She gets up at 3.30 am to write her novels. I think she must be a morning person. I'm not.
Every time I drop in here to see if there's a new post, I think I see "Conversion in a pub". Then I think "WHAT?" and then I think "Why not?"
I heard that somewhere too about Kate Mosse. I'm afraid I had the rather unkind thought that her novels, which are very readable but not exactly works of art, are not a worthy result of such a fierce commitment.
