Unconfined

I have just received a letter from the school which says
We have now completed our pre-employment checks and are pleased to enclose two copies of your contract for services.
I shall be signing them, and returning one forthwith with great pleasure.

I met the two young people I'm going to be working with yesterday, so everything is in place now for after half term.

The Census people have invited me to classroom training, so I assume they are happy with my reference too!

Let joy be unconfined... Though sadly I'm sleeping badly again and feel rather raddled. However, I have time now to rest and enjoy some peace of mind.

My joy is boundless for you. Hooray! After you've got this job, no one will care about the previous employers. I've just come in to unfreeze my hands mid-gardening, so I shall dig a metaphorical hole and bury that nasty colleague and the stupid employers!!! There! Gone! Down in the muddy cold and buried.

Such good news!

Sadly, we funny humans rarely feel immediately and unequivocally much better in such circumstances, do we, what with the uncomfortable 'anti-climax' feelings so common after resolutions, whether positive or negative, of long-term situations, and the equally common tendency of some physical reactions to tension to manifest themselves only when the tension resolves. So continue to be gentle with yourself for a while.

Such good news, though! As someone else remarked here, now that this miserable worry has proved to be all ok once, it is really much less likely to arise again, because you will have a new former employer if/when you next move on...

Oh hooray! I shall hie me and drink a Friday night glass of wine in celebration. I do enjoy sharing joy and relief like this, and love the idea of Isabelle's hole in the ground for your tormenters!

Dear friends, thankyou all for sharing this particularly bumpy stretch of the road with me, and for staying optimistic even when I couldn't...
